Solvang, The Danish Capital of America

I’m starting to explore more of the “smaller” towns near Los Angeles. Including  last weekend in Solvang, the “Danish Capital of America.” I honestly don’t have a clue how I even came about discovering Solvang. I assume from some internet article about awesome places near Los Angeles. I had never heard anyone speak a word about this cute little town. Just a short 2 hr drive from Los Angeles. That is, at least if you leave at 7am like I did and there’s no traffic, which is tricky in LA! Needless to say I was hungry and desperately needed some coffee. I stopped at this cute little bakery where I ordered a pastry and coffee, sat outside, people watched and took in the scenery.

Overall, Solvang as adorable and presumably everyone that was there was tourists for the most part, as they bring in nearly 1 million a year and have a population of about 5,000. I may have to come back for the “Danish Days” celebration which I have been told is a lot of fun!

Where should I travel to next in California?
