The 16 miler

I did my long run on Saturday this week instead of Sunday because I have plans for the day today and 16 miles certainly takes some time to run.

Started off the day yesterday fueling with some blueberry oatmeal and some espresso.

Ran for a long time. I run based on time not distance. It’s how coaches have been having me do mileage since 5th grade, so i’m not going to change something that has worked before. But the goal was to run around 16 miles. I normally calculate the approximate time based on a slightly slower pace than what I normally do long runs at. (Example: if I was to run 8 min miles for 16 miles I would run for 2hrs 8 min).

This is my sweaty “Wow. I just ran my longest run ever, but my toe nails feel like they’re going to fall off face”
On a side note: I got to about mile 15.5 and my toe nails felt like they were going to fall off. OUCH! But they are a lot better this morning thankfully!

I then refueled with eggs with veggies, ezekial toast and some turkey bacon!

    Wow 16 miles! I think more than my toes would hurt! I like the fact you train by minutes and not miles. The training plan I am working uses that methodology. My long run this weekend? 35 minutes 🙂

      I think it’s a great methodology because people stress too much about pace and often end up going to fast and struggle to recover from their runs. Awesome Job with your long run! 🙂
