Hiking to Sandstone Peak in the Santa Monica Mountains
Happy Monday y’all! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and went on some awesome adventures. I had a low key weekend curled up on the couch with the flu. But I finally got some rest and am starting to feel much better, thankfully! Here is my adventure from last weekend though! I have been on a hiking kick these past couple weeks but had been hiking the same places for the last year and I figured it was time to branch out and explore some new trails! Thanks to google, and some suggestions from friends, my most recent hike was to sandstone peak, the highest peak in the Santa Monica Mountains. There are two ways to get to the peak, the short (3 mile) hike and the long (7 mile) hike. The short one is more steep and the long is a nice gradual hike with some awesome views as well. Definitely more “woodsy” than the ones I had been going to closer to LA, which I loved.
The trails were great besides a lot of mud due to the rain the previous day. But I certainly didn’t mind in the slightest. It brought me back to my cross country days where we would purposefully go through every patch of mud there was.
To get to the tip top you have to climb up these rocks but it’s not bad at all, just wear good shoes and you’ll be good.
At the top!
An incredible panorama!
It was such an incredible hike with such breathe taking views! I will definitely have to return again real soon. I could sit up there forever!
