Exploring the Los Angeles Food Scene

There really are so many delicious places to eat out in Los Angeles and I have not even come close to checking off half my list of places I want to try.  However, since my parents were in town I was able to check a bunch of them off and oh my were they as good as I hoped!  Here are some of the eats we had while they were in town.

Exploring Los Angeles food scene- foodie- Sweet green, salad, healthy, Santa MonicaThey got in around lunch time west coast time, which was way past lunch time east coast time, so they were pretty hungry.  First stop after taking stopping at my apartment, sweet green! I had been wanting to try this for a while now, as I have seen every food blogger post about it on Instagram a million times.  I went with the Rad Thai and it was stellar!

Exploring the Los Angeles Food Scene- Gracias Madre, West Hollywood, who, vegan, Mexican, foodieWhen I got to LA about 1.5 years ago I had found a bunch of places based on reviews that I wanted to try out.  I am pretty sure I had found Gracias Madre (plant based Mexican) week one and have been dying to go here ever since!  This drink is the “La Quinceanera” snow cone.  Adulting at its finest, alcoholic snow cones!

Exploring the Los Angeles Food Scene- The Butcher's Daughter, brunch, coffee, latte, French toast, breakfast burrito, vegetarianAnother place I have been wanting to try is The Butcher’s Daughter, another plant based restaurant in Venice.  We headed there for Saturday breakfast.  We got there before all the weekend brunch crowd showed up so there wasn’t a wait luckily! I ordered a late along with the surfers breakfast, which is delicious breakfast burrito!

Exploring the Los Angeles Food Scene- Korean BBQ, Culver City, food, foodie, beef,Since we had been going to a lot of vegan restaurants I knew we needed to check out some other types of restaurants so we went out for some Korean BBQ at Hanjip in Culver City.  There are no Korean BBQ spots in Buffalo so it was a whole new experienc!  If you go there I highly recommend the garlic beef, so good!

Exploring Los Angeles food scene- Malibu Farm, vegetarian, farm to table, healthy,Next up, Malibu Farm for brunch!  I ordered the open face omelette, which had avocado, almonds and a Brussel sprout & arugula salad on top that was dressed with a mustard vinaigrette. It was so good, I may start making it for breakfast at home.

Exploring Los Angeles food scene- Best, Dtla, food, foodie, Italian, pasta, dessert, pizzaAs soon as my parents said they were coming out and visiting I got a reservation for Bestia.  Reservations seem to book a while in advance because it’s such a popular restaurant.  Dining was family style so we got to try a couple of things.  But this one was by far my favorite: The Agnolotti alla Vaccinara (saffron pasta with braised oxtail).  Melt in your mouth delicious, no wonder why it’s so popular!

Exploring Los Angeles food scene- Sage bistro- Culver City- food, vegan, foodie, Last but definitely not least, one of my favorite spots in LA for vegan food, Sage Bistro.  I ordered the Fritto Style Reuben.  Now my new favorite dish from there, it was insanely delicious and tasted just like a reuben!

Exploring Los Angeles food scene- Sage bistro- Culver City- food, vegan, foodie, We also had these Buffalo Cauliflower wings from Sage.  So beyond amazing! Heck I think they taste more like chicken wings than any of the chicken wings I have tried in LA.  They have that buffalo wing flavor down!

We ate at so many incredibly delicious places! Although right now I am back to cleaner eating, I can’t wait to try some new places real soon!

What fun foods have you tried lately?

Have a wonderful day!
