Catalina Island

Hello all! Hope you had a delightful weekend and are having an amazing Monday so far.  As for me it’s back to work after my summer vacation.  No more weekday beach days for me, but I am so excited to start my new job. I’m feeling super optimistic about this job and will share how it goes over on twitter!

Anyway, onto today’s post.  I just realized I had never shared these pictures with y’all.  This is a blast from the past post, or at least June, when I celebrated my birthday.  Did you know on your birthday you get a free ride to and from catalina island. How cool is that! So I decided to take full advantage of that opportunity and head on over to Catalina Island (the Avalon side) to explore for my Birthday!

When I checked into the Catalina express, I received a ribbon and a list of places in Avalon that I could get discounts and free things when I wore the ribbon.  As goofy as I felt wearing the ribbon, I can’t turn down free things, especially free coffee and ice-cream!  It was actually kind of cool wearing the ribbon as random people kept wishing me a Happy Birthday.  I don’t necessarily love getting attention but I thought it was so cute of so many random strangers to wish me a happy birthday when they don’t even know me!

By the time I got there (just about a 1 hour boat ride from Long Beach), I was starving so I decided to go over to the beach club and get some food and a drink.  Fries and a daiquiri sounded just perfect to me. And the view (below) was incredible even with the cloudy sky!

After lunch I walked around a bit and explored the little shops of Avalon.  They are just too adorable! And then got me free ice-cream!

After that I headed down to the Catalina Casino to take a walking tour (free on your birthday!) The architecture and attention to detail inside the theater and the entire building is absolutely incredibly breathtaking. There’s so much history to that building it was very cool to hear all of it and try to picture people in the 1930’s attending grand parties and dances up on the upper level.

It was then time to hope back on the Catalina Express and head back.  I had an incredible time in Avalon and will be back soon I’m sure! I highly recommend giving Catalina a visit even for just a day.

Have you ever been to Catalina Island?
