6 Benefits Of Drinking Coffee Before A Run

I drink coffee just about before every workout and in the past few years I have started to drink it before races as well. Here is why!

  1. Caffeine improves performance
  2. Caffeine can help with recovery
  3. Coffee hydrates you! It is a huge myth that many people still believe that 1 cup of coffee will dehydrate you.  However it has been proven it takes a lot more than even 5 cups of coffee to dehydrate you.
  4. Ability to think faster.  Which can help in a race when speedy decisions are necessary.
  5. If you take your coffee with milk, you can keep your bones strong by increasing your calcium intake.
  6. Increases sprint speed.  Speed workouts are important for any distance you are training for.

I can feel a huge change in how I feel during a run between when I have coffee before a run compared to when I don’t!

    Yes, I usually have iced coffee before I run. Thanks for giving me more reasons to keep this habit up 🙂

    Wow I didn’t know how much coffee can help with a workout!! I usually just drink it whenever I’m exhausted and have a big day ahead, I’ll definitely try it out next time x
