4 Benefits of Ice Baths

While training for a marathon I have found ice baths to be very helpful.  Especially after the long runs.  I feel so much better the next day after the days I take an ice bath!  So what are the benefits of ice baths?

Benefits:

  1. Reduces muscle soreness.
  2. Speeds up recovery.
  3. Decreases inflammation.
  4. Decreases risk of injuries

 

Here are some tips you can also keep in mind while taking ice baths.

Tips:

  1. Stay in ice bath  8-12 minutes depending how cold it is.
  2. Take a warm shower about 30 minutes afterward.
  3. Wear  feet coverings or socks if your feet are sensitive to the cold
  4. Don’t make the ice bath TOO cold.

      It’s a struggle the first couple ice baths but you get used to it (sort of) ha! Nice to meet you as well 🙂
